Professional Elective Courses
In order for students to graduate:
- Students following the 2018 curriculum must take a total of 8 courses from the Professional Elective Pools.
- Students following the 2024 curriculum must take 12 courses from the Professional Elective 1 Pool, 1 course from the Professional Elective 2 Pool, and 2 courses from the Professional Elective 3 Pool.
Click here to access the course lists and academic plans.
Vocational elective courses with fewer than 15 enrolled students will be closed on September 23, 2026.
Students enrolled in canceled courses will be able to add another course via OBS between September 24 and October 9, 2026, within the maximum credit limits and subject to available capacity.
During this period:
- Only courses may be added.
- Course drop requests will not be accepted.
- Course registration will not be accepted via written request.
Social Elective Courses
Social elective courses are defined in the “Social Elective 1” pool in OBS. Courses taken are recorded in the system sequentially as “Social Elective 1-1,” “Social Elective 1-2,” and so on.
For elective courses in which you have previously failed or are retaking to improve your grade, be sure to count the course toward your requirements during the course registration process.
Do not take more elective courses than the number required for graduation.
Please check the relevant departments’ websites for announcements regarding service courses and social elective courses.
Canceled Courses
Courses that have been closed will be announced on September 23, 2026.
Students whose courses have been canceled may register for another course via OBS between September 24 and October 9, 2026, within the maximum credit limits and subject to available capacity.
ATTENTION: Course drop and course registration via petition will not be possible during this period.
The period from September 24 to October 9, 2026, also covers the excused course registration period specified in the Regulations. Therefore, even with a decision by the Faculty Administrative Board, course registration will not be possible after October 9, 2026.
Course Attendance
For courses with a MAK code, excluding Project 1, Multidisciplinary Design Project, Capstone Project, Laboratory, and Special Laboratory courses, the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has adopted the following decision:
Starting with the Spring semester of the 2019-2020 academic year, students who retake a course in which they have met the attendance requirement will not be subject to the attendance requirement for that course.
However:
- Students must attend at least 70 percent of theoretical courses and at least 80 percent of practical sessions.
- If a student retakes a theoretical course for which they have received a grade other than F0, the attendance requirement will not apply.
- The attendance requirement remains in effect for courses that include practical work and/or laboratory sessions. Students who have previously taken these courses or failed them are also required to attend the practical sessions.
